A Forum of Ideas | On View at James Branch Cabell Library

A Forum of Ideas will be on view at James Branch Cabell Library, first floor from Monday, September 26 through November 20, 2016.

Last spring, graduate and undergraduate VCU Interior Design students took their studies beyond the studio and into the university’s most high-profile construction project, the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA). In this collaboration among ICA staff, VCU School of the Arts Interior Design faculty and BCWH Architecture colleagues (the ICA’s architect), the students examined design challenges presented by the ICA’s forum, a space defined by a lofty ceiling, curved wall, glass facade and a sweeping grand staircase. This presentation features select works—revealing the student’s process—including sketches and watercolors, study models, furniture and fixture selections, and recorded interviews.

Organized by the VCUArts Department of Interior Design with support from VCU Libraries and the Institute for Contemporary Art, the exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours.
