12:30 p.m. – Graduate line up
1 p.m. – Ceremony
The May VCUarts graduation ceremony will be at Altria Theater.
Details about the livestream, including a link to view the ceremony, will be emailed to graduates, added to the VCUarts commencement website, and shared on VCUarts social media channels.
Doors open at 12 p.m. Graduates should plan to arrive at 12:30pm for line-up in the Altria ballroom. The ceremony will begin at 1pm.
Upon arrival, you will complete a form to have your name called during the ceremony.
Students and faculty will be admitted at the theater’s Main Street entrance located past the box office. Altria security will direct you to the ballroom located on the lower level.
It is preferred that you attend the December ceremony as an official graduate of VCUarts. August graduates may attend the previous May ceremony as a “walker” only if they have six or fewer credits to take to complete degree requirements over the summer. You must send an email to Jody Symula at firstname.lastname@example.org if you fit the credit criteria and wish to walk in the May ceremony.
Being a walker means that you walk across the stage and have your name called like May graduates, but your name will not be printed in the May program. All August grads are welcome to attend the December ceremony as official graduates and their names will be printed in the December program.
Yes. All graduates who attend the VCUarts ceremony will have their names called when they walk across the stage.

All May 2022 graduates will be printed in the program. If you applied to graduate in spring, your name will be printed in the May VCUarts program, provided you checked out on eServices on or before the deadline as stated in the academic calendar. Please contact your departmental advisor for questions.
Each graduate will be issued 6 guest passes. Passes will be available for pick up, after April 15, at the VCUarts Dean’s office located in the Pollak Building, 2nd floor suite 201.
