Students enrolled in the Honors College and one of the following departments or programs are eligible to earn arts honors:  AFO, Art Education, Art History, Communication Arts, Craft/Material Studies, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Kinetic Imaging, Painting + Printmaking, Photography + Film, and Sculpture + Extended Media.

To earn Arts Honors, an honors student in the School of the Arts must complete 15 credits of arts honors courses provided through the Honors College, or participate in other approved courses. Arts Honors graduates will be recognized with special regalia at graduation and the distinction will be noted on their transcript.

Arts Honors courses will be offered in Art Foundation and Art History each year in conjunction with a minimum of one additional changing course. The changing course offering is based on proposals put forward by VCUarts professors. Built around professors’ research, interest in these courses give honors students the opportunity to work in a small group studying topics tied to the professor’s research.
