New Year, New Voices
We are settling into the new semester and want to take time to welcome some adjunct professors back to the department:
Julie Wolfe will be teaching IDES 311 Interior Graphics II to our sophomore class this semester. Julie is an alumna of our MFA in Interior Environments first professional program, graduating from the very first class in 2007.
Tim Hamnett is an architect at Baskervill and will again be teaching IDES 422 Building Systems for our junior class.
Melinda Harvey graduated from our MFA program and has previously taught a junior studio. Currently employed as an interior designer at SMBW, she will teach IDES 431 Interior Design Business Practices for the juniors.
Shannon Dowling currently works at BCWH and will be teaching a series of Interior Design projects courses for students in the Art Foundation program.
This spring, we are looking forward to having several guests visit the department. On February 6, the Department will host an Alumni Day and will welcome the following alumni for studio critiques and a panel discussion:
Jen Farris, MFA graduate, owner of VERVE Collaborative, previously interior designer and vice president at RD Jones
Christina Kern, MFA graduate, co-founder, brand expert and designer at Campfire & Co.
Matt Wagner, BFA graduate, professor at Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture + Design, principal at Matthew Wagner Design Consulting (MWDC)
Kate Magee, MFA graduate, project designer at Wingate Hughes Architects, previously interior designer at Perkins + Will
Other guests this spring semester will include
February 21, Zackery Belanger, Principal Designer and Consultant at Arcgeometer
April 5, Felicia Dean, Academic Professional at the University of North Carolina Greensboro who specializes in sculptural furniture and analog+digital fabrication techniques
