Shari Perago, NCIDQ

Adjunct Professor
BFA, Interior Design, Virginia Commonwealth University
BS, Business Management, Radford University

Shari started her career with a business degree from Radford University, but after working for a few years, she realized that she craved a more creative profession. She attended VCU and received a BFA in Interior Design, graduating cum laude in 1993. After working for various architectural and design firms for over two decades, Shari opened her design firm, Habitus, in 2010. Since then she has revitalized the new Hotel Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, helped to transform Mike Isabella’s Richmond location of Graffiato, and had her residential work featured on the cover of the summer 2015 issue of Better Homes & Garden’s Kitchen + Bath Makeovers publication. She has worked on projects abroad in both Shanghai and Moscow and has won numerous awards and accolades for her work.

Shari’s love of design and desire to mentor young designers has led her to return to her alma mater and become an adjunct professor in the VCUarts Department of Interior Design. She has taught design studios for seniors and graduate students, as well as the undergraduate lighting and color course. Shari is NCIDQ certified and is an Educator Member of IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers).
