It is exciting being at the forefront of the field. And, that’s exactly where we are. Graduate students come to the department with a fluency in the language of fiber, metal, clay, glass or wood. Undergraduates come with a sense of dedication and commitment to learning. Together, faculty and students hone, improvise, and redefine ancient technologies with new technologies. We bend and blend concepts and materials. We abstract from the familiar and tinker with expectations to take the field in new and challenging directions.
