Please join us for a reception 5–8pm Friday, September 1st celebrating 2023 Excellence in Adjunct Research Award recipient Sara Bouchard’s Forest for the Trees.
Forest for the Trees is a sound environment which responds in real time to sensors placed in the trees outside the Anderson. Tree branch movement triggers sonic shifts inside the gallery, where audio samples of organic matter are amplified through wood and found materials. As the piece evolves, tension arises between equilibrium and disruption, while fluctuations in scale emphasize the rift between human and arboreal perspectives amidst the current climate crisis.
