In collaboration with the VCUarts Department of Sculpture + Extended Media, the VMFA presents an evening with contemporary artist Ebony G. Patterson. Patterson’s multilayered practice incorporates painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and video to address global social and political injustices. Since completing her MFA in 2006, Patterson’s career as an artist has skyrocketed—she has anchored solo shows and her work has been included in group exhibitions as well as acquired by numerous national and international art institutions. Earlier this year, it was announced that Patterson will co-curate Prospect.6 with Miranda Lash, extending the artist’s practice into the curatorial realm. Visitors can experience the visuals, sound, and emotion in Patterson’s large-scale video installation “. . . three kings weep . . .” which is currently on view at VMFA in the Lewis Focus Gallery.
