About
Donna Zakowska studied painting and dance at Barnard College and the Paris École des Beaux Arts and is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama. She has designed for film, theatre, puppet theatre, and opera as well as for the the Big Apple Circus and a concert tour for Mick Jagger. Her recent theatre work includes Martha Clarke’s God’s Fool and Angel Reapers at the Signature Theatre, Roman Paska’s Echo in Camera at La MaMa, and Relatively Speaking (three one-act plays by Woody Allen, Ethan Coen and Elaine May) directed by John Turturro on Broadway. Her extensive movie and television projects include AMC’s TURИ: Washington’s Spies which was filmed in Richmond and surrounding counties in Virginia. She has won Costume Designers Guild and Emmy Awards for her designs for HBO’s John Adams and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She has received honors from the New York Women in Film and Television, the WIFTS Foundation, and Metropolitan Fashion Week and was recently recognized for her work by the Fellini Museum in Rimini, Italy.
