Sheila Whitsett

Sheila Whitsett is an Assistant Professor and Shop Technician in Sculpture + Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University. After studying sculpture at Tyler School of Art, she has spent the last decade as a fabricator, contributing her expertise to diverse fields. Her hands-on experience includes the creation and installation of work in multiple award-winning bars and restaurants, art fabrication and installation, and the construction and installation of theater sets for noteworthy shows, some of which have gone on to Broadway.

Her practical experience aims to bring to the department an understanding of the intersection between artistic vision and craftsmanship.
