Ruiqi Zhang

Department of Kinetic Imaging

Ruiqi Zhang (he/him) is a multi-media artist and educator raised in Northeast China and currently living and working in Richmond, Virginia. He earned an MFA in Kinetic Imaging from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts and a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. His practice focuses on exploring the sensitivity of digital technology in relation to online identity, ideology, and Internet culture.

His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at various venues, including Imaginary Z Gallery (Hangzhou), Times Art Museum (Chengdu), Stove Works (Chattanooga), CICA Museum (Korea), The Anderson (Richmond), Towson University (Baltimore), Cardinal Space (Baltimore), and Thatalright Art Space (Taipei). Ruiqi has participated in residencies such as Pedvale Residency in Latvia and AADK Residency in Spain.
