Work by KI alum Sara Bouchard now on view at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Categories

KI alum Sara Bouchard (MFA ’19) currently has work on view in a climate-themed group show at Connecticut’s Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Weather Report explores ways that art can be used to communicate information on the planet’s climate to different audiences. Providing a more innovative and artistic perspective on the Earth’s relationship to weather, the show strives to relay details of these natural phenomena that might otherwise be overlooked if coming from a purely informational mode of expression. Bouchard’s piece “Weather Box” features New York City weather data in the form of scorecards playable on a music box, translating what might appear to be simple documentation into melodic plinks that provide a more broad understanding of weather patterns and meteorological data.

Weather Report will be on view through April 19, 2020.

Weather Box is is also available for viewing locally in the Special Collections of University of Richmond’s Boatwright Memorial Library.
