What mattered about the BFA program?
In John Malinoski’s Typography I course—my first semester in the Graphic Design program, we were tasked to hand paint Futura. Not only was this assignment demanding from a technical perspective, it challenged me to slow down and appreciate the nuances of each letterform. In Design Center, I was exposed to design that directly helped and supported the community. I was also introduced to design history and theory through the program. To this day, it allows me to intelligently approach design problems. All of my professors set a high standard that motivated me to create work that was bold and interesting, but above all, meaningful.
