Ten Things to Do in Richmond This Summer

Categories
The Richmond Virginia skyline from above, with a view of several buildings and streets in downtown Richmond on a sunny day.
  1. Check out, and check in, the hottest hotel + gallery in town – Quirk. See Ritual Function, an exhibition by VCUarts Instructor and Advisor Brad Birchett, in the gallery through 9/19!

  2. Stroll through Hollywood Cemetery.

  3. Walk across the James River on the suspended bridge over to Belle Isle, where you can hike, bike and take a dip in the river.

  4. Walk the half-mile stretch of Carytown to see some public art and enjoy local shopping.

  5. Enjoy some of the cheap concerts around the city.

  6. Dine al fresco at one of the many restaurants with a patio (we like The Daily and Ipanema).

  7. Visit the exhibition The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse at the VMFA through 9/6!

  8. Cool down with a frozen treat from Charm School Social Club or Stoplight Gelato!

  9. Visit one of the ongoing exhibitions at VCU’s Institute for Contemporary Art! Their newest exhibition is Ibrahim Ahmed’s It Will Always Come Back To You, open through 11/7!

  10. And while you’re here, see the rest of VCU and VCUarts on tour.

What are you waiting for? Visit Richmond and VCUarts this summer. You’ll be happy you did. Or, reach out to our Admissions office to chat with a friendly counselor who can answer all your questions!
