Lost and Found
January 25 – February 5
How do we determine the meaning and worth behind an object? Why are objects abandoned or collected? The group exhibition, LOST AND FOUND, seeks to answer these questions through the interpretation of twelve VCUarts student and alumni artists. The show features discarded, reclaimed, and recontextualized property into unmonumental work.
This began as a discussion in chat on Zoom during our final group critique in our remote Spring 2021 Print Techniques: Screen Print studio course. We collectively connected over the use of found objects in our work and others. We utilize found objects to inspire or make our work. Each found object and thus artwork has intersecting identities. There is mystery behind the stories objects tell and the histories they hold.
