Nia Safarr Banks is a Costume Designer from Richmond, Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019, and her Master’s of Fine Arts from Boston University in 2023. She has been nominated twice for Richmond Critic Award for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design in 2019 and 2022. She has assisted on Broadway and Off Broadway’s productions. Her design credits include: August Wilson’s Seven Guitars (Actors’ Shakespeare Project), Private Lives (Gloucester Stage Company), and The Barber of Seville (The Santa Fe Opera). Her upcoming credits include Hamlet (American Shakespeare Center), Berta Berta (New Theatre at FirehouseTheatre), and One Flea Spare & True West (Brown/Trinity Rep).
