Announcing the Accelerated MA Program in Art History

The Department of Art History is excited to announce the launch of the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s program in Art History. The new program enables high-achieving students to earn both degrees in only five years. It offers them a faster, cost-effective path to professional success by making them more competitive for jobs in the field or admission to doctoral programs in art history immediately following graduation. At the graduate level, students will have the option to concentrate in either Historical or Museum Studies, depending on their career and educational goals. Nationally, VCU is now among only 13 public universities to offer an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s program in art history. As a part of the prestigious School of the Arts, the Department of Art History provides students a unique chance to experience the arts at all levels of their education. Art history students are immersed in the Richmond arts community through internships, exhibitions, and guest speakers; additionally, students have ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with students from other departments as well as funding for individual research and travel.
This spring, the Department of Art History will begin accepting applications to the Accelerated MA program in Art history. The deadline to apply for Fall 2021 entry is April 15, 2021. Please send questions about the program to Carolyn Phinizy, Assistant Chair, Department of Art History (porterce@vcu.edu).
