About the Program

The minor in Theatre is available to any VCU student who is not pursuing a BA or BFA in the Department of Theatre. With a wide variety of classes available, this minor can be suited to a student’s interests. Course topics include performance, improv, theatre history, playwriting, costume design, and more. The minor in Theatre offers students many educational opportunities like learning the stage presence of a performer, studying the basics of costume design, or broadening their historical knowledge of theatre and its effects on society. Visit the VCU bulletin to see all the course offerings available.

Our faculty and alumni practice their craft as artists locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. They work on the stage, in TV and films, author books in their disciplines, and hold elected offices in some of the nation’s most prestigious organizations. Collectively, the faculty and staff pride themselves on their ability to help you bridge the gap between life as a student and life as a professional beyond VCU.
