VCUarts Cinema second year student Kat Docalovich has been selected for 3 Days in Cannes, an opportunity for 18 to 28 year olds who are passionate about film to attend the festival with a free badge to attend screenings and special events. This is the first program of its kind for young film buffs in the festival’s 71-year run. The 1,000 lucky winners will have access to films both in and out of competition.
We asked Kat a few questions about this awesome opportunity!
How did you hear about 3 Days in Cannes?
Anne, a Cinema faculty member, shared an Indiewire post about the opportunity. Nikita encouraged me to apply and she helped me out alot.
What are your plans besides attending screenings?
I’m planning on creating a Zine about traveling and the festival with pictures and journal entries. And I’m going to try to meet Timothée Chalamet.
How’s your French?
It’s pretty ok. I took classes from kindergarten until 12th grade and I used to memorize movies in AP French.
What screenings are you planning to attend?
Under the Silver Lake
and the closing film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
I’m sad I’m going to miss Spike Lee! But I plan on attending any screening that I can get into.
Bonne chance, Kat! We’re so proud of you!
