Eka Maraneli was born in the Republic of Georgia where she earned graduate and postgraduate degrees from the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts. After graduation Eka began teaching at the academy and was the original designer and layout artist, for the
newly established newspaper.

Since coming to the U.S. in 1993, Eka has continued her career as an artist and educator. She taught at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1996 to 2004 and at Boston University from 2004 to 2019.  She has worked as a book designer and illustrator. Eka was an Associate Designer and Assistant Technical Director at ArtBarn Community Theater in Brookline, MA. Eka’s works are internationally exhibited and collected, including the USA, the Netherlands, England, Austria, Turkey, Russia, and Georgia.
