Student-Curated Open Call Opportunity
The Anderson is excited to announce a call for artworks by VCU students and Richmond community members! Selected artworks will be part of an exhibition on view at The Anderson during the Fall 2023 semester curated by Isa Dray (BFA Sculpture, 2024) in conjunction with their solo show, I HOLD MYSELF.
THEMATIC CALL:
HOW DO YOU VISUALIZE, HOLD, LOOSEN, AND/OR RELEASE TENSION IN YOUR BODY?
What is your relationship with this physical/emotional/spiritual tension like? Where does it reside in your body? What causes the tightness to build? What practices support you in moving and living with this tension?
TIMELINE:
9/18 – Submission period opens
10/8 – Submission period closes
10/20 – Selected artists notified
11/6 – Artwork drop-off
11/10 – Exhibition Opens; Reception 5-8
12/8 – Last day of Exhibition
12/9-12/10- Artwork pick-up
SUBMISSIONS:
- Submission form open 9/18-10/8
- Open to VCU and Richmond communities
- Submit up to two artworks: open to 3D, 2D, time-based works, and performance and workshop proposals
- Submit an artist statement, up to 250 words, for each submission that shares your interpretation of the call and how it is reflected in your submission
ACCESSIBILITY:
This show opens November 10th, at the Anderson in Gallery H on the 4th Floor. The Anderson building is not equipped with an elevator. The Anderson does not currently have a mandatory masking policy but attendees will be encouraged to mask for the opening.
