Facilities are just one of the hallmarks of VCUarts’ Department of Painting + Printmaking. We have excellent studios in both analog and digital approaches to studio practice. Painting studios are large, and light filled. Each of our graduate students works in his/her own private studio located on the 3rd floor of the Fine Arts Building. Each studio is approximately 300 square feet, has permanent walls that span floor-to-ceiling, and has a locking door. All of the studios have natural lighting with ceilings averaging 12 feet and up.
Print studios cover intaglio, lithography, screen printing, and digital media. The Center for Digital Printmaking, founded in 2005, fosters terrific opportunity for added dialogue and exchange regarding fast media and slow knowledge in the 21st century.
