We are excited to invite all VCUarts students in the undergraduate Graphic Design program to submit their best posters interpreting The Medium is the Massage by Marshall McLuhan. We challenge you to create these posters with any means other than a computer. Whether you create through handlettering, collage, printing with a press, or cyanotype, we encourage you to explore mediums, textures, and typography, and push the boundaries of what a poster is. Your objective should be to visually represent the connection between human consciousnesses using a direct quote from McLuhan’s text. You can find a copy of the book here.
The reception for this event will be September 25th, 5-7 PM at 907 1/2 W. Franklin St. The work will be on display from September 25th to October 17th, 2026.
