The BM in Performance offers six concentrations – guitar, jazz studies, piano, strings, wind and percussion, and voice. Expand performance and entrepreneurial skills and develop public performance practice while preparing to enter the competitive career marketplace. The BM in Music Education offers two concentrations – vocal/choral education and instrumental education. Develop teaching skills and techniques in preparation for a career as a certified music educator in either choral or instrumental music classrooms in Virginia.

In the Bachelor of Arts in Music program, you can pursue the creative track of media scoring or combine music with other areas of study. The degree includes 45 credits of music courses, general education requirements, and an option for electives to enhance your education. At the center of the program are music courses in performance, musicianship skills, and creativity.

The minor in music comprises 18 credits distributed across lessons for your instrument, history and theory, ensemble performance, and music electives. Any VCU student can continue to broaden their knowledge and skills in music while studying another field.
