About the Program
In the Bachelor of Music with a concentration in music education/instrumental program, you will develop your personal musicality while gaining practical classroom teaching experience through student-teaching internships and work in the field.
Students who have earned a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Music Education/Instrumental and completed all program requirements— including required licensure assessments—are eligible to apply for Virginia teacher licensure with a Music Education – Instrumental (PreK–12) endorsement. The concentration in music education/instrumental requires completing the degree with a primary instrument of wind band, orchestra tradition, piano or classical guitar.
You’ll learn from faculty who are leaders in their fields, and will have regular access to acclaimed visiting artists at VCUarts concerts, masterclasses and clinics.
