Summer Bee Clay

Summer creates functional illustrative clay inspired by botanical and traditional tattoo imagery. Through the process of wheel throwing and slump form molds Summer creates simplistic and ergonomic forms that serve as the surface for her detailed freehand carvings. All imagery is carved to encompass the form as a whole, and by using sgraffito carving techniques her illustrations are vivid and tactile. Summer aims for her pottery to hit the sweet spot between function and aesthetic to create your new favorite mug, vase, or platter.
