Annapolis-based artist Mark R. Hailey, through digital art, has brought fine art into the 21st century. Mark is a classically trained artist, specializing in pencil and pen and ink. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and had his first work shown at the Anderson Gallery in Richmond, Virginia.
Mark began a career as an artist on television, honing his skills in 2D and 3D graphics and animation. He was highly influenced and encouraged by his father, Bud Hailey, who studied Art at VCU’s predecessor, RPI, specialized in oil painting, and gave Mark a rich education in color, composition, perspective, and balance.
When Mark began digital art, he was stunned at the results and realized that digital art sat equally alongside oils, acrylics, pastels, and watercolors. For his design work on television, Mark has won 68 awards and received three Emmy nominations.
