Claire McCarty came from Harrisonburg to Richmond to study at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Arts program. She graduated with a BFA in Art Education and minors in Craft/Material Studies and Art History. McCarty earned a scholarship to study at Penland School of Crafts, examining clean, minimal design. She earned her masters degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts, completing a final thesis and exhibition on the importance of failure in art exploration. She has participated in several shows and exhibitions around the state of Virginia and sells her work in local small businesses including: Alma’s, Quirk Gallery, The Wild Heart, Lineage, and Nest Realty.
