Celebrating a global creative exchange

VCU welcomes faculty, staff, alumni and students from VCUarts Qatar for Qatar Week October 12-14—three days of art, exchange and discovery. Qatar Week celebrates the creative bond between our Richmond and Doha campuses. Artists, designers and scholars from both sides of the world will share studios, classrooms and ideas, showcasing the remarkable work coming out of Doha and sparking new collaborations between our communities.

What started as Qatar Day in 2002 has grown into one of VCUarts’ most anticipated traditions, a multi-day celebration that shows what becomes possible when creative communities cross borders.

That exchange matters more than ever. The challenges and opportunities facing today’s artists and designers transcend national boundaries. When students and faculty in Richmond and Doha work side by side, they learn to see their craft through new cultural lenses, question their assumptions and build friendships and professional networks that span the globe. The result is a creative community that is richer, more curious and better prepared to make work that speaks to the world.

VCUarts Dean Carmenita Higginbotham and VCUarts Qatar Dean Amir Berbić invite you to a lineup of inspiring events, networking opportunities and conversations that will expand our understanding  of the world and our place in it.
