The VCU Health Sciences Library and the Disability Advocacy and Accessibility Caucus invite disabled artists from the Richmond community to submit work for Embodied Knowledge, a juried exhibition.
Embodied Knowledge recognizes disability as a source of expertise, centering the perspectives of disabled artists and creating space for forms of knowledge that are often overlooked within traditional medical and academic settings. Bringing together work that reflects experiences of illness, disability, healthcare, and survival, the exhibition asks viewers to consider how lived experience can expand our understanding of medicine and what our bodies can teach us.
The exhibition will be on view from October 2026 through February 2027.
Open Call Deadline: September 30, 2026
This is a juried exhibition open to artists who identify as disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill, or who have a chronic condition throughout the Richmond community. Participating artists will have the opportunity to receive prizes donated by community art spaces and artist resources.
