The NYU Sports Film Festival welcomes submissions from filmmakers around the world who tell compelling sports stories. We celebrate the diverse ways athletics intersect with human experience.
Eligible Categories
- NYU Documentary: Documentaries created by current NYU students or alumni
- NYU Narrative: Narrative films created by current NYU students or alumni
- Open Documentary: Documentaries from filmmakers of any background
- Open Narrative: Narrative films from filmmakers of any background
Requirements
- Films must have a clear and central connection to sports, athletics, or physical competition (traditional or non-traditional)
- Maximum runtime of 30 minutes
- Films must have been completed within the last 3 years
- Films previously selected for NYUSFF are not eligible
- All non-English films must include English subtitles
- To be considered for the SNY TV special, films must not include unlicensed/copyrighted footage or audio
How to Submit
- Submissions are accepted exclusively through FilmFreeway
- Please include a screening link and all required materials on your submission page
- Films from the NYU community meeting copyright/licensing requirements are automatically considered for TV broadcast
- By submitting, filmmakers confirm they hold rights to all content and grant NYUSFF permission to present their work across festival platforms, social media, and SNY broadcast
