Dorie Barton is an actor, writer, and filmmaker from Northern Virginia and Los Angeles.
Her first feature film as writer- director, Girl Flu., premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and went on to win numerous awards at festivals around the country. Her second feature, shot in Richmond, VA, Welcome to the Show, premiered at Cinequest and also enjoyed an award-winning festival tour. Barton has written for the Hallmark Channel and has been a narrative script consultant for 20+ years.
As an actor, Barton has built a wide-ranging career on stage and screen, from originating roles in theater such as Edith in Charles Busch’s Die, Mommie, Die! to film work in Down with Love and God Bless America, as well as starring in NBC’s Martha Stewart biopic and Stark Raving Mad. Barton has voiced myriad commercials as well as animation. She is a proud member of the Evidence Room theatre company in Los Angeles.
Barton holds a BFA in Theatre from California Institute of the Arts and an MFA in Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University.
