Kenneth Wood is the coordinator of voice, co-director of VCU Opera, and assistant professor of voice and voice pedagogy for Music. He has appeared in leading or supporting roles with such companies as Western Opera Theater in San Francisco, Texas Opera Theater in Houston, Lyric Opera of Dallas, Fort Worth Opera and Austin Lyric Opera. Concert engagements include solo performances with Austin Choral Artists, Austin Chamber Music Festival, Fort Worth Ballet, Austin Symphony, Sacramento Symphony and the Festival at Round Top. He was named a “Certified Classical Singer” by Classical Singer magazine, was a finalist in the International Opera Singers Competition in New York and was a past finalist in the International Opera Competition of Wisconsin. He taught previously at the University of Central Missouri, maintained a private studio in Texas for over 10 years and served as a teaching assistant during both of his graduate degrees. Wood received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from the University of Texas at Austin, and his Master’s and Bachelor’s of music degrees from the University of North Texas.
