Self-Service

When you first walk in, there is a doorway leading into our self service studio. Feel free to use this space for your craft. We have exacto knives, scissors and bookbinding supplies. A monitor is usually stationed to help answer any technical or use-based questions. Our supplies are free to use, we just ask for collaboration in maintaining the equipment and space. This space is open whenever the CPB is open. There is no reservation needed for the space, just be mindful it does fill up with students working, and you may be asked to share space and equipment with your peers.

Equipment housed in the self-service space includes:

• 25″ x 19″ Flatbed scanner
• 36″ Poster Scanner
• 2 Risograph Machines, scrap paper and drying racks
• Perfect Bind machine for Letter-Size books
• Automatic Guillotine for stack cutting paper
• Wire-O Bind machine
• Spiral Coil bind machine
• Saddle-Stitch/Staple Bind machine
• Cutting boards and rulers

Perfect binding is available inside our self service room, is a DIY process, and allows customers to bind the pages of a book with thermal activated glue. Wire-o binding and Coil binding is additionally DIY. These machines allows students to punch holes and add a looped-wire to enclose the pages. We also have staplers for your zines and saddle stitch booklets.

We are currently providing book binding materials for free. That means glue, staples, and spirals for the machines are all being provided by the Creative Print Bureau. Please take special care of the machines and keep supply waste to a minimum so we can continue to provide these resources for everyone.
