Photo Senior Adele Luck’s work titled “Cosplayers” explores what she calls the “internet state of mind” by showing the evolution of online subcultures and their influence on contemporary American culture. By photographing these cosplayers and in-person meetups, she aims to showcase virtual identities and cultures that interact and manifest within the physical.
“I am interested in the disparities that arise when the online is made tangible; for example, a furry unmasking to catch their breath in the summer heat or a cosplayer getting chili sauce on their costume. What happens when one medium is transposed upon another? What gets lost in translation?” – Adele Luck
