About the Program
Many VCU undergraduate students minor in art history while completing degrees in design, fine arts, literary studies, humanities, or business. As they become astute viewers and museum visitors, the one thing they hold in common is the belief that art history enriches their lives regardless of their personal and professional pursuits.
An art history minor includes six courses, starting with two introductory survey courses that provide a general overview of visual art throughout time and around the world. After completing survey courses, the remaining four classes may be selected from an array of course offerings—some of which focus on a specific time period or place, while others are organized thematically to explore specific ideas, themes, or aspects of human life.
