The Department of Craft/Material Studies at VCUarts stands at the intersection of rigorous artistic practice and real-world creative careers, preparing students to become thoughtful makers, innovators, and cultural leaders. Our students engage deeply with materials and ideas that shape contemporary craft and design, building skills that carry them into professional studios, exhibitions, teaching positions, and entrepreneurial ventures.

The Windgate Foundation has invited VCUarts to participate in a challenge grant to support Craft/Material Studies. This grant will provide vital resources for emerging artist residencies, graduate teaching assistantships, and mentorship tied to our craft entrepreneurship curriculum. By strengthening programs that bridge artistic excellence with entrepreneurial know-how, this challenge grant helps ensure that VCUarts graduates are not only outstanding artists, but also prepared to thrive in today’s dynamic cultural landscape.

If you are able, please consider supporting the Windgate Foundation Challenge Grant and raising support for the department of Craft/Material Studies.
