The VCUarts Office of Communications was honored with two national design awards from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) in its annual competition, which recognizes the exceptional design and creative work created for and by educational institutions across North America. This year’s winners were announced during the 54th annual UCDA Design Conference in Indianapolis, Ind., and the winning work was exhibited during the event.
The 2024 UCDA Design Awards judges evaluated more than 950 entries across six competitions—print, digital, photography, illustration, video and student—resulting in 219 awards: 25 Gold Awards, 62 Silver Awards and 132 Awards of Excellence.
VCUarts was honored with a Silver Award in the Integrated Campaign category for the visual design assets and branding created for the 2024 VCUarts fashion event—Context—hosted at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in May. Print and digital assets created for the event included posters, social media graphics, videos, attendee badges, event programs and photography. View the winning awards submission.
The project was a collaboration with the VCUarts Department of Fashion Design + Merchandising. VCUarts Communications team members Ryan Sprowl (art director), Shanice Aga (graphic designer) and McNair Evans (videographer and photographer) created the visual assets, with additional videography by Richmond-based production and marketing company Filmspire.
The VCUarts communications team also earned an Award of Excellence in the Magazine category for the Fall 2023 issue of Studio.
