The VCUarts Office of Communications received national and international recognition in 2025, earning multiple industry awards for excellence in digital design, print publications and branding that advance the visibility and mission of the School of the Arts.
Webby Awards
In April 2025, the newly redesigned VCUarts website won the top prize in the School/University Website category in the 29th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the internet.
The award-winning website redesign was completed in partnership with Baltimore-based digital agency Fastspot.
CASE Circle of Excellence
In July, VCUarts earned a Bronze Award for the Undergraduate Admissions Viewbook in the international CASE Circle of Excellence competition. Presented by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the awards recognize exceptional achievement in higher education advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. The 2025 competition received more than 4,400 entries and named just 477 winners globally.
The judges commented: “We loved this publication! It stands out visually, and the breakdown of the information was easy to read, as opposed to long paragraphs. Great work, VCU!”
Additionally, the Fall 2024 issue of Studio magazine and the Undergraduate Viewbook were each honored by CASE with regional Best of District III awards.
UCDA Design Awards
VCUarts was recognized by the University & College Designers Association (UCDA) in the 2025 UCDA Design Awards, announced in August. The team received five honors, including:
- Silver Award for the Fall 2024 issue of Studio magazine
- Excellence Award for the Undergraduate Admissions Viewbook
- Excellence Award for the VCUarts website redesign
- Honorable Mention for VCUarts Fashion Event 2025: Evoke branding
The VCUarts website was also recognized with a Judge’s Choice award, with one judge commenting: “Just a beautiful example of concept, design and execution coming together seamlessly with a deep understanding of the audience and their unique desires and tastes. It’s not an idea or a design that would work for many other types of websites, but it’s so incredibly well targeted to the audience it deserves recognition. Well done!”
Collectively, these honors reflect a year of exceptional creative achievement by the VCUarts Office of Communications and underscore the team’s commitment to compelling storytelling, innovative design and creative partnership within the school and the community.
