J.M. Tyree’s work as editor-in-chief of Film Quarterly (FQ) allows him to work with great film critics and scholars on coverage of important movies and series produced across the globe. FQ, the oldest academic film journal in the USA, is now free to read on VCU networks thanks to VCU Libraries, and includes essays, filmmaker interviews, film festival reports, and book reviews.

His first issue covers some of the year’s most interesting releases, from the animated Hollywood blockbuster Inside Out 2 to the Netflix series Ripley and offbeat gems like The Substance, Love Lies Bleeding, and I Saw the TV Glow.

A message from J.M. Tyree:
If you enjoy what you read in Film Quarterly, drop me a line at jmtyree@vcu.edu. I love hearing from filmmakers, artists, and scholars, especially students, about films and series worth considering for coverage, and I rely on my colleagues and students for movie recommendations!
