VCUarts Theatre presents Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco directed by Dr Jesse Njus. In this iconic play about the dangers of conformity, the peace of a tranquil French village is trampled by a growing number of pachyderms rampaging through the town. The hapless Berenger—a disheveled and absentminded daydreamer—is slowly becoming the last person standing in a world of Rhinos. Can he resist them? Ionesco’s play revels in its absurdity while simultaneously reflecting the deep divisions that permeate contemporary society.
