Recent VCUarts Communication Arts graduate, Asia Rorick (B. F. A. ’24), won Richmond’s very first “I Voted” sticker contest. Her adorable opossum design is loved by many including Senator Tim Kaine, who was spotted wearing it.

Rorick notes, “Richmond is such a creative city, and I think voters appreciated a unique artistic design and hopefully a cute opossum.” She plans to create a vinyl version of the RVA Votes sticker to sell following the election for those who weren’t in the city to receive it.

Asia also just started a six-month Studio Access Residency at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. She plans on exploring printmaking, as well as mediums beyond traditional illustration, like clay and fiber.

Rorick adds, “I want to focus on subjects around nature, gardening, bugs and of course, opossums! Additionally, I am open and excited to explore any new creative opportunities around Richmond. I think it’d be really cool to do an opossum mural somewhere in the city!”
