The 4th Annual Richmond Animation Festival is held across two locations: Saturday, April 25th for the shorts program at Studio Two-Three and Sunday, April 26th for the feature program at the Byrd Theatre with special guest Julian Glander. Both events begin at 7:00 pm.

The shorts program plays the festival’s fave shorts from around the world, old and new. There are always some surprises in here.
Sunday, April 26th, 7:00 pm at the Byrd Theatre
And the 2026 special guest is Julian Glander presenting his feature-length animated comedy “Boys Go to Jupiter!” Glander created most of this feature himself and it’s gone on to much acclaim. Indiewire praised that it “brilliantly juxtaposes the endless creative opportunities afforded to us by digital art with the anxiety of a generation that often feels like its own real-world opportunities are becoming fewer and further between.” See this beautiful movie on the big screen followed by a Q&A with Glander.
