Filmed entirely in Richmond on a shoestring budget, local director Ken Brisby’s 2025 film Mom, I’m on Drugs (1 hr., 30 min.) follows the journey of a punk whose night out turns into a terrifying hero’s journey. The film title comes from a coming-out queer conversation the director had with his parents as a teen. Catchy songs by Brisby’s synthpop band, Stephanie, form the film’s soundtrack.
