The Global Education Office at VCU and the Department of Painting + Printmaking are pleased to offer a unique multi-country opportunity to study in some of Latin America’s premier hubs for contemporary art.
Led by Dr. Noah Simblist and Professor Caitlin Cherry, this one-month journey will go through the cultural capitals of Mexico City, Antigua, Guatemala, and Cali, Colombia participants will venture through artist studios, museums, and galleries. Imagine walking the cobblestone streets of the colorful Spanish colonial city of Antigua, or visiting indigenous Mayan communities in the surrounding Guatemalan highlands where you will have an opportunity to hike volcanoes and swim in Lake Atitlan, considered by many experienced travelers to be the most beautiful lake in the world. We will travel to Colombia to dance and learn about the Afro-Colombian history of Cali, a city known for its rumba and salsa rhythms.
The Zoom info session for this study abroad opportunity will take place on February 7th at 1 PM.
