The Anderson and VCUarts are excited to announce an open call for a juried exhibition of student work coordinated by the Queer Arts Collective titled I’m So Glad I Met You. Students are invited to learn more below and apply by January 16th.
Theme:
I’m So Glad I Met You is an exhibition centered around the theme of chosen family and its role in the survival of the queer community. This refers to family groups that are made by choice, rather than biology. Based around solidarity and care, these surrogate relationships are often made out of necessity when people are cast out from their blood families for living as their true selves. In the current political climate, community and found family play a special role and are important in our everyday life now more than ever.
About QuAC
The Queer Arts Collective (QuAC) is a student led affinity group created for LGBTQ+ art students and allies to create connections and community. The club aims to help students explore their identities through art and share their art with the community, and increase LGBTQ+ visibility at VCU.
