The Department of Photography + Film is excited to announce the upcoming visit and lecture from Drew Sawyer, the Whitney Museum Biennial Co-Curator and Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum to share his valuable experiences and insight on the importance of exhibition curation.
Drew Sawyer is an art historian and a curator who holds the title of the Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art. His recent exhibitions include Mark Armijo McKnight: Decreation (2024); Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines (2023), Suneil Sanzgiri: Here the Earth Grows Gold (2023), Jimmy DeSana: Submission (2022), and Liz Johnson Artur: Dusha (2019). Sawyer holds a Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University. He was also recently announced as one of Whitney Museum’s Biennial Curators.
