The Anderson and Black Art Student Empowerment are pleased to present Black Fidelity: Crafted in the Storm. This multi-media exhibition will be the 2026 edition of BASE’s annual Black Fidelity Exhibition. VCUarts student artists will display works in The Anderson throughout Black History Month, on view from February 6-February 28th. An opening reception will be held on February 6th from 5-8pm.
Exhibition Statement:
This exhibit will explore themes of creative agency, relief in times of anguish, and radical joy. We ask the question: What is the role of the creative in times of uncertainty? Art is a powerful tool which builds a shelter of joy and expression in the midst of a storm. It connects communities through shared human sentiments. It creates portals to connect us to the experiences of people from the past and reaches the hearts of people in future. Art has the power to introduce one to a deeper version of themself. Artists wield this magnificent tool every time they create. Join us as we brave the storm through the power of artistic expression.
