Shaun McCracken is the Academic Affairs Coordinator for the Performing Arts. McCracken has over 15 years’ experience as an academic advisor—first serving as the academic advisor to all first year performing arts students at VCUarts, then as the coordinator of first year arts advising for the School of the Arts. McCracken has served as a research associate for Lynn M. Thomson (“Rent”) on her workshop production of the musical adaption of the Wilkie Collins novel “The Woman in White” at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and has directed several plays at the Shafer Street Playhouse. McCracken began working at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in 2016 as resident dramaturg and assistant director where she worked on the world premieres of 8 new plays which have been produced nationally since their debut. McCracken earned an MFA in theatre pedagogy with a dual focus in dramaturgy and theatre history from VCUarts, and a BA in theatre from Hollins University.
