Ryan Sprowl is the art director for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts where he is responsible for leading the overall creative direction of the VCUarts visual brand and designing materials for recruitment, development, events and more. Before relocating to Richmond from Cleveland, Ohio, he spent more than nine years as a designer and art director at Oberlin College. Ryan received his B.F.A. in visual communication design from Kent State University.
Ryan currently serves as Vice President and Programming Director on the Board of Directors of the University and College Designers Association (UCDA), a national design organization for creatives working in education. He has been a member of UCDA since 2014.
When he isn’t designing, you can probably find Ryan cooking, baking, cycling, or exploring Richmond’s neighborhoods with his husband and dogs.
